FAQs
A Wheel wash system is a system that automatically removes mud, clay and dirt from the tyres and underbody of lorries before they drive onto public roads. The vehicle drives slowly through the system whilst numerous nozzles spray it with a high volume of water at moderate pressure – ensuring that the spray is directed specifically at the tyres and chassis. Sunny-Wash systems have a modular design, are manufactured in Germany and can therefore be quickly installed, expanded and adapted to different operating conditions.
Whether it is worth to buy or rent a wheel wash system depends primarily on the duration and frequency of use: if there is a recurring need across several projects and sites, Buy is usually the more cost-effective option, whilst Rent is preferable for temporary construction projects. In addition to the initial investment, other factors such as maintenance responsibilities, storage between uses and the desired flexibility when changing locations also play a role. Sunny Wash advises on both options and, for purely rental requirements, also refers customers to specialist distribution partners such as CleanStreet.
The appropriate system size depends primarily on lorry traffic frequency, soil type and degree of soiling, as well as the space available on site. Sunny-Wash systems are scalable from 2 to 12 metres in passage length in 2-metre segments, with a drive-through withs of 3 metres (or more) and an axle load of 15 tonnes#; 30 tonnes is also possible. For light soiling and low traffic volumes, more compact models (e.g. 4 m, regular wash) are sufficient; for highly cohesive soils such as loam and clay, or high vehicle traffic, a longer, more powerful system is recommended, e.g. a 12 m ultra wash.
The price of a truck wheel wash system depends on its size, pump technology and any specific requirements – there are no standard catalogue prices due to the modular, project-specific design. Key factors affecting the price include the passage length, the pump capacity and any customisations required in terms of width or axle load. Prospective customers can use the contact form at sunny-wash.de to receive a non-binding quote tailored to their project.
Sunny-Wash systems are manufactured entirely in our own production facilities in Germany. All steel components are manufactured in accordance with DIN EN 1090 and undergo structured testing procedures prior to delivery, whilst purchased components such as pumps are sourced from reputable, market-standard manufacturers. Thanks to our in-house engineering department, special requirements – such as modified lengths, widths or axle loads – can be accommodated at short notice, without having to contend with long lead times for standard parts.
A Truck wheel wash system is designed to clean the wheel and underbody of Trucks, ensuring they can leave construction sites clean before entering public roads. A Demucking system, on the other hand, is designed for construction machinery such as excavators and removes coarse dirt such as mud, clay and concrete residues directly from the machine to ensure its availability for continuous operation. These are particularly suitable, for example, for construction machinery Rent companies that need to thoroughly clean returning excavators before their next job.
Yes. The length, width, and axle load capacities of a Sunny Wash system can be customized—for instance, if heavy construction machinery also needs to pass through the unit, or if site-specific space constraints require unique solutions. Thanks to our in-house engineering and manufacturing capabilities in Germany, Sunny Wash can respond quickly to such requirements. Our internal electrical department produces control cabinets tailored to our customers’ specific needs. We use pumps from Tsurumi, a globally active, high-quality manufacturer.
Since 1998, Sunny Wash has provided expert maintenance and repair services for its tire-washing systems. This is ensured through a network of distribution partners across various regions: CleanStreet for the DACH region, the Netherlands, and Belgium; GLANACO for Great Britain, Ireland, and the USA; and Scandcon Products AB for the Nordic countries. As a result, customers—regardless of their location—have access to a regional point of contact for service and technical inquiries.
No. A professionally installed and regularly maintained truck wheel wash system does not damage vehicles. The spray pattern is designed to target the tires and the lower chassis, while keeping the vehicle body, windshields, and rearview mirrors dry. This requires a robust steel support structure—manufactured in accordance with DIN EN 1090—as well as precise system settings tailored to the specific vehicle fleet.
